Pollinator of the Year

Every year the prize Pollinator of the Year is given to hard working and engaged people like biologist Ebba Werner who has been working effortlessly to bring awareness on the importance of flowers along the roadsides of Sweden and how to create more pollinator friendly environment along the roads. Ebba was awarded in 2020.

Hardworking pioneers in the seed business were chosen as Pollinator of the Year 2019. Pratensis, a company from Småland who specializes in local flora and meadows, was a choice everyone in the jury agreed on. www.pratensis.se

Pollinator of the Year 2018

To enhance the importance of pollination in all parts of society we created the Special Prize “Pollinator of the Year” which first was assigned to the Swedish Transport Administration in summer 2017. They received the prize for their work in sustaining blooming roadsides that supports the local insect fauna on Gotland, Sweden.

The following year a role model for farmers was chosen to receive the prize, Niclas Malm at Glyttinge Farm in Östergötland, Sweden. He has been working on smart and profitable solutions that can encourage farmers to sow pollinator friendly flowers in and around their cultured fields.
